Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang is set to undergo further medical treatment abroad following a sudden illness that required emergency care at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) on Saturday.
According to a statement released by the Presidency on Sunday, the Vice President fell ill after work on Friday, March 28, and was treated at UGMC. Medical advisors have recommended additional specialized care overseas.
The statement, signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, assured the public that the Vice President is stable but emphasized the need for advanced treatment.
“The Vice President received prompt medical attention, and based on expert advice, she will be seeking further care abroad,” the statement read. “We wish Her Excellency a swift and full recovery.”
No details were provided about the nature of the illness, but the Presidency stressed that the decision for overseas treatment followed standard medical protocols.
