Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, the Interior Minister, has come up with new immigration policies aimed at boosting Ghana’s revenue.
He announced plans to start charging for residency permits as a way to bring in more money for the country.
During a meeting with leaders of the Christian community in Kumasi as part of a two-day tour and talks with important members of the community, Alhaji Muntaka expressed concerns about the growing number of foreigners living in Ghana who aren’t contributing significantly to the economy.
“8,000 Indians and 7,000 Chinese applied for residence permit in Ghana,” he disclosed.
