A 51-year-old man, Kwamena Nuamah, has come forward claiming to be the biological son of former President John Agyekum Kufuor.
However, his claims have been met with skepticism and rejection by the Kufuor family.
Apau Gyamfi, a niece of former President Kufuor, has broken her silence on the matter, cautioning Nuamah to refrain from seeking attention through media outlets.
“You’ve seen the house, so there’s no need to go out there and say certain things. For us, we don’t reject people. If President Kufuor is your father, that’s not news. Just use the right channels to get what you are looking for,” Gyamfi stated in an interview with Lawson TV.
Gyamfi’s statement suggests that the Kufuor family is open to verifying Nuamah’s claims but through the proper channels.
She emphasized that Nuamah should approach the family directly, rather than resorting to social media and public declarations.
“You’ve said you know the house, so why not go there directly and stop using social media? The man is elderly,” Gyamfi added.
Nuamah, a tipper truck driver from Bogoso, has recounted his lifelong struggle to discover his father’s identity.
According to him, his mother had traveled to Kumasi Railways to seek a livelihood and became pregnant while there.
However, she never disclosed the identity of the man responsible for the pregnancy.
Nuamah claims that a classmate of his late mother told him that his father was a great man and that he was not living a life befitting of his true status.
Nuamah’s quest to uncover the truth led him to Apagyafie in the Ashanti Region, where he was told that his father was former President Kufuor.
He also sought help from Chairman Wontumi, who contacted NPP Women’s Organizer Nana Ama Ampomah.
However, despite multiple efforts to meet Kufuor and confirm his claim, Nuamah has been unsuccessful.
The Kufuor family has a history of public figures, including former President Kufuor’s nephew, Kwame Addo-Kufuor Jnr, who was a renowned figure in Ghana’s mining sector.
However, Nuamah’s claims have not been verified, and the family’s rejection of his public declarations suggests that they do not recognize him as a legitimate family member.
The Kufuor family has rejected Nuamah’s claims, and it remains to be seen whether he will pursue further action to verify his claims.
