OFANKOR-NSAWAM ROAD PROJECT RESUMES AFTER FOUR-MONTH HIATUS

Construction work on the Ofankor-Nsawam road project recommenced today, Monday, April 7, following a four-month suspension due to financial constraints, according to the project’s Resident Engineer, Ing. Kwabena Bempong.

The pause in construction had sparked safety concerns among motorists and pedestrians, with reports of increased accidents attributed to incomplete road markings and the absence of a footbridge.

Ing. Bempong, in an interview with Citi News, confirmed the resumption of work and disclosed that while the project was initially slated for completion in July 2025, it will now require an additional nine months.

“Now that funds have started flowing, we expect continuous progress. Even with an extension of eight to nine months beyond the July deadline, the contractor should be able to complete the work. The heavy lifting is already done—most bridges, except the Nsawam bridge, are over 90% complete. From Monday, the contractor will be back on site,” he stated.
