“THEY TOOK MY ALBUM TO THE CEMETERY” – Gospel Musician Cwesi Oteng Alleges Spiritual Attacks From Fellow Gospel Musicians

Renowned Ghanaian gospel musician Cwesi Oteng has made a startling revelation about the early days of his music career, claiming that some gospel artists in the industry spiritually attacked him and even took his debut album to the cemetery in an attempt to sabotage his success.

In an emotional interview on Joy Prime’s “Changes” with Roselyn Felli, the ‘God Dey Bless Me’ hitmaker recounted how his unique musical style and sudden rise caused envy and backlash from industry players who felt threatened by his presence.

“When I stepped out into gospel music, I was like a fresh idea and I started breaking a lot of grounds where gospel had not entered,” he said. “Suddenly, doors were opening for gospel music. It also came with a lot of attacks… People were doing all sorts of things. They took my album to places; people took it to cemeteries.”

Cwesi Oteng alleged that both church members and fellow gospel musicians attacked him verbally and spiritually, accusing him of disrupting the traditional gospel scene. He believes these actions have contributed to the decline of his prominence in recent years, as some of his newer songs haven’t gained the same traction as his earlier works.

Despite the challenges, the award-winning artist emphasized that he has chosen to take care of himself and return to music at his own pace, prioritizing his well-being over constant public visibility.

“You also want to live long… Stardom is really my thing; I can leave the scene, go and take care of myself for a year and come back. Trying to be in people’s faces all the time is not it for me,” he said.

Cwesi Oteng is currently promoting a new single titled ‘Favour,’ which he describes as a reminder to believers of how favored they are by God and the importance of declaring it daily.
