WE’RE FOCUSED ON ALLEGED DRUG TRAFFICKING SCANDAL, NOT ADWOA SAFO – NPP

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is focusing its attention on a major issue involving drug trafficking, rather than dealing with internal party issues related to Adwoa Safo, who used to be the Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya.

Justin Kodua Frimpong, the NPP General Secretary, explained during an interview on Sunday night that the party is postponing its planned meeting, which was initially set for Monday, April 7.

The meeting was delayed because the drug trafficking allegations are very serious and need urgent action.

Mr. Kodua explained that this drug issue is important for the whole country and that it needs immediate action and discussions with the government.

The NPP thinks it is better to focus on this national issue instead of being distracted by internal matters involving Adwoa Safo.

“There is not going to be any discussion on whether or not Honourable Adwoa Safo is going to appear before any committee or not. What the party is going to discuss is the running issue with respect to the alleged drug trafficking in our country,” he stressed.

He stressed that the party intends to concentrate on the drug trafficking allegations and not let the issue with Adwoa Safo become a priority at this important moment.

“Our priority now is the alleged drug trafficking scandal, not internal party politics. Ghanaians deserve answers from the government. We expect transparency, accountability, and clarity on this matter,” he added.

He expressed his unhappiness with the way the government handled the situation. His main concern is that the officials are giving mixed messages about the scandal.

He believes this confusion has damaged Ghana’s reputation internationally.

This issue troubles him because it affects how other countries see Ghana. He worries that the inconsistency in the government’s story makes it hard for people outside the country to trust Ghana’s leadership.

“The rank and file of our party have expressed disappointment at the worrying behaviour of this government. There are several mind-boggling questions we expect the government to answer. The attempt to sweep these critical issues under the carpet is unacceptable,” Mr. Kodua stated.
