Hearts of Oak’s first-choice goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has attributed his recent Black Stars call-up to overwhelming support from Ghanaian football fans, following his impressive performances in national team colors.
The 32-year-old shot-stopper made these revelations in an exclusive interview with Peace FM‘s sports desk yesterday, days after keeping back-to-back clean sheets against Chad and Madagascar in crucial AFCON qualifiers.
“First, I give glory to God, but I must specially thank the Ghanaian supporters who kept believing in me,” Asare told host Nana Yaw.
“I didn’t achieve this alone. They helped me reach this milestone. My determination is that when I’m in the goalpost, it won’t be easy to concede. If you are a goalkeeper and you keep clean sheets, people will notice. So I would say my hard work helped me earn this call-up.”
