President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Naomi Borley Alabi as the Acting Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Finance and Administration at the Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC).
She is the daughter of Professor Joshua Alabi, a notable scholar, experienced administrator, and famous business strategist, as well as a key member of the ruling National Democratic Congress who acted as campaign manager.
The Executive Secretary to the President, Dr Callistus Mahama, in a letter addressed to Naomi Alabi, congratulated her on her new appointment.
Naomi Alabi completed her LLB programme in 2021.
Her appointment is anticipated to boost GTDC’s ability to effectively mobilise resources for investment in tourism projects and services, in line with the organisation’s mission to promote sustainable quality tourism in Ghana.
Founded in 1972, the GTDC functions under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, acting as the investment arm of the Ministry and significantly contributing to the attraction of both local and foreign investments in the tourism sector.
The main functions of the company involve advocating and gathering resources for investment in tourism projects, pursuing equity involvement in partnerships, and offering financial and technical support to small enterprises in the tourism industry.
Naomi Alabi will work under the direction of Professor Kobby Mensah, the newly appointed CEO of GTDC.
