NO ASSETS OR BUSINESSES OF MUSTAPHA HAMID HAVE BEEN SEIZED BY OSP – Lawyers Clarify

Attorneys representing Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, the former Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), have denied allegations made by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) that their client’s assets, valued at more than GH¢100 million, had been seized.
The legal team called the OSP’s allegations “false, misleading, and injurious” in a statement released by Hay & Partners at Law and signed by Hanifa Yahaya Esq.
They emphasised that the OSP has not located, tracked down, or seized any businesses or assets that belong to or are connected to Dr. Abdul- Mustapha Hamid.
“Our client owns no such assets, directly or indirectly, and no property worth the stated amount exists anywhere in connection with him,” the statement said.
The attorneys also pointed out that there is no mention of any seized assets or companies connected to Dr. Abdul-Hamid in the OSP’s own updated charge sheet, which was submitted on October 17, 2025, and contains five counts of alleged offences.
They accused the OSP of distorting facts and engaging in “public theatrics and false reportage” rather than focusing on diligent prosecution.
“The OSP, as a public institution established under law, is reminded that its officers are bound by constitutional and ethical obligations to discharge their duties with fairness, integrity, and respect for the rights and dignity of all persons,” the statement read.
