MALI’S MILITARY GOVERNMENT DISSOLVES ALL POLITICAL PARTIES

Mali’s military regime has dissolved all political parties in the nation as it intensifies its crackdown on opposition following the army’s takeover.
In a statement read on state TV on Tuesday by Mamani Nassire, the minister of political reforms, he said, “All meetings of members of political parties and organisations of a political character are dissolved across the national territory,”

The decision was endorsed by military chief Assimi Goïta, who took control following coups in 2020 and 2021 and is expected to remain in power for at least five more years despite promises to conduct elections.

The action is anticipated to provoke new opposition from political parties that have been insisting on the nation’s return to democratic governance.
