Head coach Joy Ofori declares this season the best chance yet to dethrone rivals Spintex Knights.
Nungua Coldstore Basketball Club’s head coach, Joy Ofori, has expressed strong confidence that his team will claim the Accra Basketball League Men’s Division I championship this season.
Coldstore is set to face their biggest rivals, Spintex Knights, on Saturday, May 18, at 18:00 GMT, in a high-stakes match at El-Wak Stadium. The rivalry between the two clubs has been described as “healthy” by Spintex Knights co-founder Dr. Eric Opoku Antwi, culminating last season in the Knights defeating Coldstore to take the 2024 league title.
Speaking exclusively to Citi Sports, Ofori said the current squad and technical team are better prepared than ever to overcome the Knights.
“For the past two years, with the squad that we have now, with the personnel we have on our technical team and the kind of motivation that we get and the drive that we have, this is the best chance that we will ever have to play against them,” he said.
“We are actually taking the league this season. We are taking the championship this season for sure,” he added.
