OSEI KYERETWIE SHS STUDENT ARRESTED ON CAMPUS WITH A LOCALLY MANUFACTURED GUN

A male boarding student from Osei Kyeretwie Senior High School (OKESS) in Kumasi is now in police custody after being discovered with a homemade pistol.

The event took place on Saturday evening when the student arrived back on campus around 9:30 p.m.

At the main entrance of the school, he underwent a standard search, where security staff found the weapon.

Even with the discovery, the student was able to flee the location before he was apprehended.

An insider from the school administration disclosed that the headmaster, Mr. Michael Mensah—often referred to as “Sir Micky”—individually sought out the student early Sunday morning.

He subsequently took the student, along with the seized firearm, to the police station.

Authorities have since assumed control of the case and initiated an investigation to find out how the student acquired the weapon and if there are any wider security issues.
