‘I’M TRANSITIONING TO FINANCE’ – Ama Governor Reveals One Year After Call To The Bar
Ghanaian lawyer and content creator, Elorm Ababio, widely recognized as Ama Governor, has revealed her intentions to move into the finance industry despite her recent call to the Bar.
I am a lawyer. I have been in the legal and policy consultancy field, but I am currently in the process of transitioning to finance
The podcast episode included open conversations regarding her short detention, fellow influencer Marintia’s choice to leave college, and the motivation behind their women-led project, Girls Who Cook.
Ama Governor was formally called to the Bar on 31 May 2024, alongside 181 other people in a group revealed by the Director of the Ghana School of Law.
Nonetheless, the list was marked as temporary and may be altered if the General Legal Council (GLC) detects any discrepancies.
Her call to the Bar came after an extended dispute related to a petition submitted by a worried citizen in November 2022.
The petitioner charged Ama with conduct viewed as “unbecoming of a bar applicant,” leading the GLC to delay her call for almost a year.
Following a widely covered struggle and strong backing from human rights supporters, Ama Governor’s entry into the legal field was ultimately sanctioned, signifying the conclusion of a difficult period in her career.
Even with this achievement, Ama seems to be forging a new direction, combining her legal skills with aspirations in the finance sector.
