BRYAN ACHEAMPONG TO RUN FOR NPP FLAGBEARER IN 2028
Former Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North, Andy Appiah-Kubi, has hinted at a possible presidential bid by Dr. Bryan Acheampong, the current MP for Abetifi, ahead of the 2028 general elections.
In a media interaction, Appiah-Kubi revealed that internal consultations and groundwork are already ongoing within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for Dr. Acheampong to emerge as the party’s next flagbearer.
“The task on our hearts is to present a great candidate who can redeem our party, and Dr. Bryan Acheampong is preparing himself for that mission,” Appiah-Kubi stated.
“He will speak for himself in due course, but I am only a messenger. From what I know, he is the one — and his work speaks volumes.”
Appiah-Kubi lauded Acheampong’s leadership credentials, describing him as a unifier, a symbol of victory, and a leader with the right combination of intellectual depth and business acumen to steer the party back to power. He emphasized that Acheampong’s rising popularity and proven competence make him the ideal candidate to consolidate party unity and appeal to floating voters.
“With him, we’re killing two birds with one stone… he is a symbol of victory,” he added.
Though Dr. Acheampong has not made any formal declaration, party insiders believe the 2028 elections will be pivotal for the NPP, and that a strategic candidate like Acheampong could be instrumental in reclaiming power.
