WOMAN WHO STOLE CHURCH TV AT MILITARY BARRACKS JAILED 12 MONTHS

An Accra Circuit Court has sentenced a 24-year-old woman to 12 months imprisonment for stealing a 50-inch Television (TV) at Teshie Military Barracks in Accra.

Mawuena Tamakloe was found guilty and sentenced after admitting to charges of trespassing and stealing a television worth GH¢8,900.

The court imposed a 12-month prison term on Mawuena for unlawful entry and theft.

The prosecution, headed by Chief Inspector Clemence Takyi, informed the court that the pregnancy test ordered by the court for Mawuena returned negative results.

The case investigator and the prosecution recounted to the court how Mawuena fled after they conducted the test and were headed back to the Police station.

The case investigator informed the court that Mawuena traversed the main road near the Police and then entered a commercial vehicle and a taxi.

As per the female case investigator, Mawuena was caught after a Rider volunteered to help by pursuing two vehicles in which Mawuena was concealed.

The relieving Judge then advised Mawuena to go and reform in prison.

Earlier, Chief Inspector Takyi prayed the court to withdraw the charge of causing unlawful damage to the TV, a property of the Church of Pentecost (COP) Whistler Barracks Worship Centre.
