POLICE OFFICER DIES IN MOTOR ACCIDENT WHILE VISITING PREGNANT WIFE
Tragic loss as General Corporal Samuel Okonegye loses life en route to see his expecting spouse
The Asokwa Divisional Police Command in the Ashanti Region has confirmed the untimely death of General Corporal Samuel Okonegye, a dedicated officer stationed at Trede Police Station.
According to an official situational report from the Trede District Command, the fatal accident occurred on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at approximately 4:00 pm. G/Cpl Okonegye had taken leave to visit his wife, who is eight months pregnant, in Breman Esikuma.
Tragically, while riding a motorbike on the Assin Nsuta stretch, he collided with a tipper truck registered as AS 9475-19, driven by Isaac Kumi. The collision proved fatal, and G/Cpl Okonegye succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
His remains have been taken to St. Francis Xavier Hospital in Assin Fosu, with plans underway to transfer the body to the Police Hospital Morgue in Accra.
The Ghana Police Service has expressed profound sorrow over the loss of the officer and assured the public that further updates regarding the incident and funeral arrangements will be provided in due course.
