Bryan Acheampong, Member of Parliament for Abetifi and former Minister for Food and Agriculture, has confirmed his role as a surety for embattled Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.
Despite this significant development, Wontumi remains in the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) due to ongoing legal proceedings.
Chairman Wontumi was granted bail set at GH₵50 million with two justified sureties following his arrest on allegations including fraud, money laundering, and causing financial loss to the state.
Acheampong provided property documentation, expecting to meet the required bail value, facilitating the fulfilment of the bail conditions.
