R. KELLY HOSPITALIZED FOLLOWING ALLEGED PRISON OVERDOSE INCIDENT

Disgraced Singer's Legal Team Claims Medication Mishandling in Federal Prison

Incarcerated R&B singer R. Kelly was reportedly hospitalized last week after what his attorneys describe as a dangerous medication incident at the Federal Correctional Institution in Butner, North Carolina.

According to court documents filed Tuesday by Kelly’s attorney, Beau B. Brindley, the 58-year-old entertainer (legal name Robert Sylvester Kelly) received an “overdose quantity” of prescription medications meant to treat his anxiety and sleep disorders. The alleged incident occurred June 12 while Kelly was held in solitary confinement.

Medical Emergency Details:

  • Kelly reportedly experienced “black spots in his vision” before losing consciousness
  • Was transported to an outside medical facility on June 13 for treatment
  • Currently remains under medical supervision

This development comes as Kelly serves a 30-year sentence following his 2021 conviction on federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges involving the exploitation of underage girls and young women.

The Bureau of Prisons has not yet commented on the allegations. This incident marks the latest health scare for Kelly since his incarceration, following previous reports of the singer struggling with depression and other medical issues behind bars.

Kelly’s legal team indicates they may pursue further legal action regarding his prison conditions and medical care. The former Grammy winner continues to face multiple legal challenges, including outstanding state charges in Illinois.
