FAKE GOLD AGENT DEFRAUDS GHANAIAN-AMERICAN INVESTOR OF $83,000
Syndicate Posing as Ghana Gold Board Agents Lures Businessman with Forged Documents; One Suspect Arrested

A sophisticated fraud syndicate operating under the name “Jay & Sons Enterprise” has allegedly defrauded a Ghanaian-American businessman of $83,000 in an elaborate fake gold scam in Accra.
According to police sources, the group, which operated from Dzorwulu, posed as accredited agents of the newly established Ghana Gold Board. They reportedly lured the investor with a combination of forged documents and fake identification cards to legitimize their scheme.
A police source told The Ghanaian Times that the syndicate was led by a fair-complexioned Burkinabe national, Mohammed Ali, who has since been arrested. Ali allegedly presented himself as an official partner of the President’s Ghana Gold Board to gain the investor’s trust.
The businessman was persuaded to pay various sums of money under the guise of covering standard fees, including customs duties, export levies, Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) taxes, and official Gold Board certification.
“After collecting the funds, the suspects went into hiding,” the police source disclosed.
The Nima Divisional Command has confirmed that investigations are ongoing to track down and apprehend other members of the network who are currently on the run. These individuals are known by the aliases ‘Pepsi,’ ‘Dollar,’ and ‘Ben.’
In the wake of the incident, the Ghana Gold Board has issued a strong denial, stating that it has not authorized any private individual or company to operate on its behalf. The Board is urging the public to verify the credentials of any purported agents directly with the institution before engaging in gold-related transactions.
The Police have reiterated this caution, advising businesspeople and investors to remain vigilant and to immediately report any suspicious dealings involving individuals claiming to represent the Gold Board to the nearest police station.
