Google has confirmed that its Gemini AI technology will power future Apple Intelligence features, including a revamped Siri, while operating strictly under Apple’s privacy-first Private Cloud Compute framework.
In a detailed statement shared on social media, Google emphasized that Apple Intelligence will continue to run on Apple devices and its private cloud infrastructure, maintaining the iPhone maker’s “industry-leading privacy standards.”
The clarification comes amid initial reports that Apple was outsourcing AI capabilities to Google, when in fact the arrangement mirrors how Siri currently handles certain requests via ChatGPT without granting external services access to user data for training.
Google stated that Gemini will help power “future Apple Intelligence features, including a more personalized Siri coming this year,” aligning with Apple’s long-teased Siri overhaul planned for 2026. References to Google Gemini have been found in iOS code as far back as February 2025.
