BAWUMIA IS GHANA’S BIGGEST POLITICAL FIGURE AFTER MAHAMA – Sammi Awuku Explains

Member of Parliament(MP) for Akuapem North, Sammi Awuku, has described Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the most prominent political figure in Ghana after President John Dramani Mahama.

Even if the voters’ record is anticipated to be revised, Sammi Awuku stated on Asempa FM that Dr. Bawumia is still the most well-liked political figure among Ghanaians who took part in the 2024 elections.

“Ghanaians who voted in 2024 know that after President Mahama, the most popular political face is Dr. Bawumia,” Awuku stated.

He insisted that Dr. Bawumia ran a strong and successful campaign, rejecting accusations that the former vice president was a weak candidate.

“If someone tells me Bawumia was not a good candidate, I ask myself what more he should have done. He ran a very good campaign,” he said.

Additionally, Awuku rejected suggestions that Dr. Bawumia only excelled in the Effutu Municipality, calling them false.

He claims that during the 2024 presidential election, Dr. Bawumia prevailed in a number of polling places around the nation, including Takoradi Arabic School and other Zongo areas.

“It is false that he did not win any zone apart from Effutu. He won in Takoradi Arabic School and other Zongo areas. He won in several centres,” he emphasised.

In contrast to electoral hype, the Akuapem North MP emphasized that Dr. Bawumia’s character and policy ideas should be evaluated.

“Bawumia should be judged by the content of his character and the ideas he brings on board. He has very good ideas,” Awuku noted.

He mentioned one such suggestion, which calls for setting up a welfare station at the constituency level to assist grassroots supporters and party members.

Awuku claims that in order to precisely determine the requirements of party members and offer focused support, the effort would depend on appropriate data collecting.

“He wants to set up a welfare desk at the constituency level so party members can have access to resources. But first, data will be collected so the needs of the people can be properly analysed and addressed,” he explained.
