Presidential hopeful John Dramani Mahama from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has once again emphasized his dedication to stabilizing the economy.
He claims that a stable economy will result in lower prices for necessities like food and fuel.
Mr Mahama stated that the NDC has experience in overseeing an economy that benefits all citizens of Ghana. He remembered that while he was in office, the price of cement was GHS25. Nevertheless, it has increased to GHs100 during the current government’s term.
In a Facebook post, Mr Mahama said “I am committed to leading a team that will stabilise and transform the economy. This transformation will stop the daily increases in the price of essential products such as fuel, food, and general goods and bring prices down.
When the NDC was in office, a bag of cement cost GH₵25, but now it is more than GH₵100. Fuel cost GH₵14 per gallon in 2016, but the NPP said it was too expensive. Today, a gallon costs more than GH₵70. That is why we will work hard to stabilise the economy so that the prices of goods and services will be reduced and things will be more affordable for the people.
“Akufo-Addo and Bawumia’s destruction of the economy has badly affected rural dwellers, but they can be assured that the next Mahama government will lessen their financial burden.”
