“A SOLDIER INSULTED ME AND I INSULTED HIM BACK” – Martin Kpebu Details OSP Arrest Incident

The private legal practitioner, arrested for allegedly obstructing an officer at the Office of the Special Prosecutor, recounts a heated exchange with a soldier on the premises, calling the arrest "shocking and unnecessary."

Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has described his arrest at the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) as “shocking” and “unnecessary,” detailing a confrontation with a soldier that escalated into mutual insults before he was taken into custody.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem on Thursday, December 4, Kpebu recounted visiting the OSP for the third time over corruption allegations he filed against the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng. He stated that while giving interviews to the media outside the premises, a soldier warned him, “Next time you come here and do that, I will show you paa.”

Kpebu said he replied calmly, asserting his right to move freely, after which the soldier allegedly called him a “stupid man.” The lawyer admitted he responded in kind, leading to heightened tensions.

“I moved further into the yard to speak with another person, and when I turned, a soldier warned me… I was shocked to hear that,” Kpebu explained. “Even the presence of soldiers there is not right. As a lawyer, there is no law to stop me from going about my business.”

He was arrested on Wednesday, December 3, for allegedly obstructing an OSP officer and later granted bail. Kpebu is expected to return to the OSP at 11 a.m. today for further investigations into the obstruction claim, while a separate date will be set to continue the probe into his corruption allegations against the Special Prosecutor.
