The Accra Sports Stadium has been closed since the Wizkid Live concert on December 10 in order to undergo repairs before the 2022/23 betPawa Premier League resumes on December 19, 2022.
One of Ghana’s most well-liked stadiums, the Accra Sports Stadium, has a pitch that many football fans are worried about.
The country’s maintenance culture can be seen in the infrastructure, which is now considerably worse than it was before the league’s break for the FIFA World Cup in 2022.
The National Sports Authority, headed by Professor Peter Twumasi, reserved the space for a performance. Wizkid, R2Bees, and King Promise didn’t perform, but other national and international artists did.
Days after the event, LiveHub Entertainment and the attendees left the site in appalling condition. The National Sports Authority has reportedly shuttered the facility for renovations.
Sharing images of the stadium on his Facebook page, Saddick Adams of Angel FM wrote;
“The is state of the National Stadium in Accra, after the Wizkid show. In civilized sporting jurisdictions, no event happens on and around the pitch unless it is covered. Here, no protection for the pitch they spent huge sums of taxpayers’ money to build a few months ago.
There are other musical shows coming up. They take the money they never account for, supervise this destruction and come back for tax money for maintenance purpose.
Very great thinking Leaders in charge ????????”
