NKONKONSA.com has learnt that Dr. Benjamin Kwasi Agordzo (RTD), the former Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), has been appointed as the Human Resource Head at the National Security Council.
This is according to an internal memo dated January 21, 2025, obtained by 3news.
The memorandum signed by the Chief Director of National Security and addressed to all personnel states that Agordzo’s appointment is effective immediately.
The Retired Police Officer offers a wealth of experience in human resource management and strategic leadership, along with security knowledge, making him a significant asset to the National Security Council.
“We encourage all staff to extend their full support and cooperation to him as he embarks on this new journey with us,” the memo stated.
It can be remembered that ACP Dr. Agordzo along with eight others were indicted on April 24, 2021 for conspiracy to commit high treason, aiding high treason, and high treason.
A three-member panel of judges of an Accra High Court on 24 January, 2024 discharged and acquitted Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mr. Benjamin Agordzo, Colonel Samuel Kodzo Gameli and one other junior military officer, Corporal Seidu Abubakar.
However, six of the ten (10) alleged coup plotters were convicted on counts of conspiracy to commit high treason and committing high treason while one of the accused, Dr. Frederick Yao Mac-Palm, the Chief Executive Officer of Citadel Hospital died in the course of the trial.
Throughout the treason trial, Dr. Agordzo maintained his innocence insisting that he was not involved in any coup plot.
