Alfred Ababio Kumi, popularly known as Adenta Kumi, has allegedly been arrested by operatives believed to be from the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) in a dramatic early morning operation on Friday, May 23, 2025.
According to Nana Kwadwo Agyei Yeboah, also known as Nana Kay, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communication team, the arrest occurred at Kumi’s residence and involved eight armed men. Speaking on Okay FM, Nana Kay confirmed that the arrest took place in the early hours and has sent shockwaves within the party.
“We will not sit aloof and watch such injustices happen in this country. When you arrest one of us from the NPP, you will have to arrest us all,” Nana Kay declared.
He further revealed that NPP General Secretary, National Chairman, and legal representatives were heading to the NIB office to seek clarification and secure Kumi’s release.
The Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, also took to Facebook to confirm the development, stating that Adenta Kumi had been taken from his home approximately three hours earlier.
As of now, the NIB has yet to officially comment on the matter or provide details regarding the reasons for the arrest. The incident is expected to draw political attention in the coming days, with party leaders and supporters closely monitoring the situation.
