Energy transition expert with 15 years’ experience takes over from Eunice Biritwum

The Energy Commission has announced the appointment of Madam Adwoa Serwa Bondzie as its Acting Executive Secretary.
She takes over from Mrs Eunice Biritwum. In a statement confirming the appointment, the Commission described Madam Bondzie as an accomplished executive leader with over 15 years of experience in business development, energy transition and strategic management.
The statement noted that she is widely recognised for driving innovation and sustainability, having led initiatives that positioned organisations as industry leaders while improving public service delivery.
“Her ability to connect technical and commercial functions has consistently advanced operational excellence, profitability and long-term value,” the Commission stated.
Madam Bondzie is credited with pioneering the first Trading Desk at the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company (BOST), where she designed a fuel trading system that reportedly generated $20 million in profit within two years and set a new benchmark for operational efficiency.
She also led the expansion of Ghana’s strategic petroleum reserves from four weeks to 12 weeks between 2014 and 2016, a move that strengthened national energy security and earned her the BOST Leadership & Dedication Award in 2015.
Earlier in her career, she managed multi-million-dollar engineering projects for TechInsights Canada, delivering projects on time and to high quality standards for international clients.
Madam Bondzie holds a Master of Science degree in Public Policy from the University of Bath, an MBA in International Business and Strategy from Henley Business School, a Bachelor of Science degree in Information and Communication Technology from GIMPA, and a Graduate Diploma in Project Management from Algonquin College.
The Commission highlighted her commitment to sustainable energy solutions, noting that she aligns corporate strategy with national development goals to promote economic growth and environmental sustainability.
“She is also dedicated to mentoring future leaders, coaching young professionals, advocating for women’s advancement in technology and energy, and supporting sustainable development initiatives,” the statement added.
The Energy Commission has urged all partners and stakeholders to extend their full support and cooperation to Madam Adwoa Serwa Bondzie to ensure a successful tenure in her new role.
