AFUA ASANTEWAA MISSES OUT ON GUINNESS WORLD RECORD SING-A-THON TITLE AGAIN

Ghanaian media personality and singer Afua Asantewaa has once again fallen short in her bid to secure the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest individual singing marathon, following a review of her second attempt.

In an official statement issued by the Guinness World Records team, the organisation explained that violations of mandatory rest break rules rendered the attempt invalid. According to GWR guidelines, participants are allowed five minutes of rest for every one hour of continuous singing a critical rule that Afua’s team reportedly breached on two occasions.

“At 23:25 during sequence 19, Afua reportedly took a 15-minute break, when she was only entitled to 5 minutes,” the GWR report stated.
“Later, during sequence 21, she took a 105-minute break, despite having only 10 minutes of accrued rest time.”

These infractions, the review concluded, disqualified the attempt, as strict adherence to rules is key to maintaining fairness across all record submissions.

This is Afua Asantewaa’s second unsuccessful attempt at breaking the record, but the singer remains undeterred.

“It’s been a challenging yet rewarding journey,” Afua said in a statement. “Exploring my potential on the Guinness World Records platform has brought about growth, discovery, and life-altering experiences.”

She expressed heartfelt gratitude to her team, sponsors including His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and Ghanaians around the world for their unwavering support throughout the process.

Despite the setback, Afua affirmed that her journey is far from over, hinting at future projects and possibilities.
