Afua Asantewaa, a former participant in a Guinness World Record attempt, has announced her intention to organize another singathon in Kumasi later this year.
In December of last year, she brought together the country to attempt to beat Sunil Waghmare’s record for the longest individual singing performance. Nevertheless, following five days of dedicated work, she was on the brink of being disqualified.
During the mid-morning show on Akoma FM, the tourism ambassador announced that she had received permission from Guinness World Records to host another singathon in Kumasi, as stated in an interview with Tony Best.
“I can tell you on your show that, God willing, I will be hosting another singathon but this time I’m planning to do it in Kumasi,” she stated. “Myself and the team are doing a feasibility study to appreciate which part of the city will best suit the attempt. This will allow those in this enclave to make a feel of the show and also deepen my ambassadorial role.”
Afua stressed that her previous disqualification should not stop her from trying to become a Guinness World Record holder.
“The fact that I was not successful in my first attempt shouldn’t be a barrier to my quest of becoming a Guinness World Record holder.”
