Guinness World Records has finally responded to Ghanaian event organiser, Afua Asantewaa’s attempt to break the record for the longest singing marathon by an individual.
Afua Asantewaa concluded her Guinness World Record attempt to break the record for the longest individual singing marathon on December 29, 2023.
Asantewaa sang for 126 hours and 52 minutes to surpass the existing 105 hours set by an Indian, Sunil Waghmare in 2012.
Subsequently, the event organiser submitted evidence of her singing attempt to Guinness World Records on January 6, 2024.
According to Guinness World Records on their official X account, they have been reviewing Afua’s evidence even before Afua Asantewaa requested priority service.
Giving the verdict on the sing-a-thon attempt, Guinness World Records indicated that Afua’s attempt was a failure, however, they are looking forward to subsequent attempts by her in the future.
They wrote “Unfortunately, Afua’s Guinness World Record attempt for the longest singing marathon was not successful, but we hope that she will make another attempt soon.
We’ve seen how inspirational it has been for her fans. The evidence check had already begun before Afia requested priority service, so we refunded her payment earlier this month. We wish Afua the best of luck with any future record attempts.”
