35-year-old businessman Daniel Koranteng, also called Nana Amakye, has strongly denied accusations of giving photos of investigative journalist Ahmed Hussein-Suale to Kennedy Agyapong, a Member of Parliament before Suale was murdered in 2019.
Daniel Koranteng is currently in custody due to a decision made by the Madina District Court.
He is provisionally charged with murder.
Prosecutors claim that he was involved in Ahmed Suale’s death.
They present evidence such as call records and say he was near Suale’s house at the time of the murder.
“Call records placed the accused in Madina near Suale’s residence before and at the time of the murder,” the prosecution said.
According to prosecutors, Mr. Koranteng has denied giving photos of Ahmed Suale to Kennedy Agyapong.
Although, they say he admitted to knowing Suale, visiting Agyapong, and taking photos with Suale.
“He admitted knowing the deceased, visiting Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, and taking photographs with the deceased but denied selling the photographs to anyone,” the prosecution told the court.
The prosecution believes Suale himself identified Koranteng as the one who gave the photos. These photos appeared on Net2 TV, where Kennedy Agyapong called for action against Suale.
The prosecution claims Mr. Koranteng escaped to the United Kingdom in 2019 after saying no to several requests from the police to meet with him.
Later on, he returned to Ghana. On March 15, 2025, he was caught by the police in Amasaman due to some tips they received.
The court has decided to keep him in jail for now while they keep looking into the case.
They have scheduled more court meetings to start on April 1, 2025.
“During the investigation, the accused declined multiple police invitations and later fled to the United Kingdom in August 2019.
“He subsequently returned to Ghana, and intelligence led to his arrest in Amasaman on March 15, 2025.
