AHMED SUALE SET A LOT OF PEOPLE UP – Kennedy Agyapong

Kennedy Agyapong, the member of parliament for Assin Central, has condemned the late investigative reporter for Tiger Eye, Ahmed Suale, for being irresponsible in how he approached his work.

Agyapong compared Suale negatively to his senior colleague, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, during an appearance on Citi TV’s Face 2 Face program with host Sanda Umaru. Agyapong claimed that Suale failed to secure his identity, leaving him open to attacks from people he had exposed.

Agyapong claimed that Suale tried to set up Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta by putting him in touch with a well-known lawyer.

However, Agyapong’s exposé on Net 2 TV is said to have alerted Charles Adu Boahen, the Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, who cautioned Ofori-Atta before he could be duped.

Agyapong insisted that he still stands by his earlier remarks about Ahmed Suale even after making it clear that his instructions to his employees were to beat Suale only if he entered the premises.

He said that without their knowledge or Anas’ involvement, Ahmed Suale set up the Finance Minister and others with a lawyer, and that the Minister of State skipped the meeting after viewing Agyapong’s video.

After being tragically shot and died in January 2019, Ahmed Suale, a member of the Tiger Eye investigative team, raised questions about the safety of journalists in Ghana and the larger difficulties they have when disclosing corruption and wrongdoing.
