AKUFO ADDO CONGRATULATES PRESIDENT-ELECT, JOHN MAHAMA, PLEDGES PEACEFUL TRANSITION OF POWER

 

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has conveyed his congratulations to President-elect John Dramani Mahama on his significant triumph in the 2024 presidential election.

This statement comes after the formal announcement of the results by Jean Mensa, the Chair of the Electoral Commission, on the night of December 9, 2024.

In a statement released by Eugene Arhin, Director of Communications at the Presidency, Akufo-Addo pledged his dedication to facilitating a smooth transfer of power, set for January 7, 2025.

“I called President-elect Mahama to congratulate him on his victory,” Akufo-Addo revealed. “Our conversation centered on our shared responsibility to ensure a smooth transition. I am committed to supporting the incoming administration in this regard.”

He also conveyed hopefulness regarding working with Mahama’s team throughout the transitional period.

“This election reaffirms the strength of our democracy,” he stated.

“The active participation of Ghanaians and the commitment of the Electoral Commission have ensured that our democratic values remain intact. I call on all Ghanaians to unite and work together as we consolidate the gains of our democratic journey.”
