Prof Ransford Gyampo from the political science department at the University of Ghana, asserts that the NPP government under Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will be remembered as the least democratic government in the fourth republic.
He mentions efforts to infiltrate the University Teachers Association and other labor unions as a reason for labeling this government as undemocratic.
Furthermore, labeling him as an NDC member simply due to being captured in a video dancing to John Dramani Mahama’s campaign song.
He further states that the current administration has undermined the Judiciary, which was once a separate branch of government.
He is also concerned about the stifling of civil society, which is meant to keep the government in check.
“This government will go down as the most undemocratic government in the history of Ghana 4th republic because they are weakening the legislature, they are weakening the judiciary, they have silenced civil society, they have silenced the voices of eminent people and they are silencing and diving the front of labour,” he said.
