ALL CIVILIANS IN POLICE LADIES TEAM TO AUTOMATICALLY JOIN GHANA POLICE SERVICE FOLLOWING HISTORIC LEAGUE WIN
Deputy Commissioner Lydia Donkor confirms IGP’s promise after Police Ladies clinch 2024/2025 Women’s Premier League title.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Lydia Donkor has announced that all civilian members of the Police Ladies football team will be granted automatic entry into the Ghana Police Service.
This directive fulfills a promise made by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno following the team’s landmark 2-0 victory over Ampem Darkoa Ladies, which secured them the 2024/2025 Women’s Premier League title.
Speaking to 3Sports, Donkor highlighted the significance of the achievement, noting that the Police Ladies had pursued the league title for nearly 15 years since joining the Women’s League.
“About 15 years ago, that’s a very long time. We hadn’t come this close before,” she said. “The IGP himself was present for the girls’ big day. All civilians in the team are automatically going to become police officers after completing the necessary training. That’s the IGP’s promise. They truly deserve it.”
The historic win at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on May 18, 2025, marks the Police Ladies’ first-ever Women’s Premier League championship, highlighting their dedication and growth in Ghanaian women’s football.
