ALL REGIONS TO GET PASSPORT APPLICATION CENTRES BY DECEMBER 2025
Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has announced that all regions in Ghana will have passport application centres by December 2025.
Speaking at an event in Accra where five prominent Ghanaians received diplomatic passports, the minister said the first of the new centres will be opened in Bolgatanga this month. The initiative is part of government’s efforts to decentralize passport services and ensure accessibility for every Ghanaian.
He explained that passport reforms have already improved efficiency, with applicants now receiving their passports faster. Courier services also deliver passports directly to applicants, reducing the need to travel long distances to collect them.
Currently, seven regions do not have passport application centres. The minister assured that by the end of 2025, each of the 16 regions will be covered.
The five Ghanaians who received diplomatic passports at the ceremony were travel vlogger Wode Maya, reggae artist Rocky Dawuni, broadcaster and entrepreneur Anita Erskine, contemporary artist Ibrahim Mahama, and British-Ghanaian entrepreneur Dentaa Amoateng.
