The Overlord of Anlo Dukor in the Volta Region, Awoamefia Togbi Sri III, has requested the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, to reveal the name of the MP who made the disparaging comments about Dr. Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings, the Klottey Korle MP and the eldest child of the late former President Jerry Rawlings.
In a request dated Wednesday, February 5, 2025, and endorsed by Togbi Agbesi Awusu III, the Awadada of Anlo Dukor, representing the Overlord, the chiefs labeled the comment as slanderous. The petition mentioned that the two MPs initially charged with making the remark have later denied any accountability.
“Our information initially pointed to Hon. Abu Jinapor, Member of Parliament for Damango Constituency in the Savannah Region, and Hon. Nana Kwame Asafo-Adjei, MP for Bosome Freho. Both have denied being the authors of the alleged obscene and defamatory words.”
Voicing their strong dissatisfaction with the incident, the chiefs have urged Speaker Bagbin to disclose the MP’s identity by 10th February 2025 so they can take suitable action.
“The Overlord of Anlo Dukor, Togbi Sri III, and the chiefs and people of Anlo Dukor are furious about this unfortunate development in the august house and wish to identify the Member of Parliament who made the disparaging remarks against the son of Anloland, so we can advise ourselves on the next steps to take.”
The event took place on Tuesday, February 4th, as MPs from both the Majority and Minority sides were making contributions to a statement commemorating the 60th anniversary of Dr. Joseph Boakye (J.B.)’s passing. Danquah.
