ANTOINE SEMENYO REVEALS WHY HE CHOSE BOURNEMOUTH OVER OTHER INTERESTED CLUBS

The Ghanaian striker explains strong Bournemouth interest influenced his decision.

Ghana international Antoine Semenyo has shared insight into why he turned down several other clubs to sign with AFC Bournemouth in January 2023.

The 25-year-old forward moved to Bournemouth from Bristol City in a deal worth approximately £10 million, signing a four-and-a-half-year contract. Since joining the Cherries, Semenyo has quickly established himself as an integral figure, netting 20 goals in 81 appearances.

In a candid interview with Showmax, Semenyo highlighted how Bournemouth’s persistent interest, tracking his progress closely from the summer of 2022 through the World Cup until January 2023, played a major role in his decision to join the Premier League club.

“I had a few clubs that were quite interested, but Bournemouth had kept track from that summer through to the World Cup, right through to January, so their interest was really strong,” Semenyo explained.

He emphasized the attention and commitment shown by Bournemouth as key factors influencing his decision.

“They were watching me, checking up on me, and that shows how good the club is. Their interest was genuine and consistent. I knew my heart was set on joining Bournemouth, despite having other offers, and I’ve never looked back since I signed,” he added.

Following a remarkable season in which he scored 11 goals and provided five assists, Semenyo has attracted considerable attention from other Premier League heavyweights, notably Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
