“ANY TIME NPP IS IN OPPOSITION, THE COUNTRY DEVELOPS” – NDC’s Rashid Tanko-Computer
The Deputy National Organizer of the NDC has sparked controversy with his claim that Ghana progresses better when the New Patriotic Party is not in power, suggesting the party should be "kept" in opposition.

A senior member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Rashid Tanko-Computer, has asserted that Ghana experiences more significant development when the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is in opposition.
The Deputy National Organizer of the NDC and CEO of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) made these remarks during an interview at the Joy News studios, where he criticized the NPP for what he termed as hypocrisy and inconsistency.
“Any time they are in opposition, the country develops. Seriously,” Mr. Tanko-Computer stated. “They play the opposition very well, so why don’t we just keep them there?”
His comments were made against the backdrop of Parliament’s Appointments Committee vetting the Chief Justice nominee. Addressing the NDC Minority’s reported boycott of the process, Tanko-Computer downplayed its significance, claiming, “With or without the Minority, the vetting will go on. In fact, their absence will even save this country.”
He further accused the NPP of political double standards, using a metaphor to illustrate his point. “The way they behave, if we all see that something is a bird, they will insist it’s a monkey. But when they hold it, they’ll call it a bird. That’s the kind of hypocrisy we are talking about,” he noted.
The controversial statement is likely to intensify the ongoing political debate in the country, with the NPP expected to issue a strong rebuttal to the claims made by the senior NDC official.
