APPOINTMENTS COMMITTEE RENDERS APOLOGY TO GHANAIANS FOR CHAOS DURING VETTING

The Appointments Committee has formally apologized to Ghanaians after the chaotic events that occurred during Thursday evening’s vetting session.

The meeting, intended to evaluate nominees Kwabena Mintah Akandoh and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, spiralled into chaos due to conflicts between Minority and Majority members.

Tensions heightened when the Minority suggested delaying the vetting until Friday, expressing worries about that day’s activities.

Nonetheless, the Majority dismissed the request, insisting that the vetting proceed as planned.

The confrontation escalated into violence when certain Minority members interrupted the meeting, allegedly damaging tables and microphones in dissent.

Security measures were strengthened in the conference room as tensions escalated.

In a statement, the Appointments Committee conveyed sorrow regarding the incident and assured the public that steps would be implemented to avert future disturbances.

They highlighted their dedication to a systematic and respectful review process and encouraged all members to maintain parliamentary integrity.
