AYAWASO EAST: I HAVE NOT ENGAGED IN VOTE BUYING OR ANY FORM OF ELECTORAL MALPRACTICE — Parliamentary Candidate, Baba Jamal

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso East, Mohammed Baba Jamal Ahmed, has categorically denied claims that he participated in vote buying during the February 7 party primary.
Baba Jamal said in a statement following the news of his recall that he had noted a communication from the Minister for Government Communication and the Presidential Spokesperson that connected the decision to allegations of inducement at the just-concluded primary.
He also cited a previous declaration made by Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the general secretary of the NDC, in which the party condemned the purported behaviour and declared its plan to look into allegations of vote buying during the election.
“I want to state unequivocally that I have not engaged in vote buying or any form of electoral malpractice,” he said, adding that he remains available to assist the party’s investigations whenever required.
Baba Jamal denied the allegations, claiming that he acted legally at all times and that he was willing to assist the party’s investigation to the fullest extent possible.
Baba Jamal also thanked delegates in Ayawaso East for supporting him to represent the party in the parliamentary by-election on March 3, 2026, and thanked President John Dramani Mahama for giving him the chance to serve Ghana as High Commissioner to Nigeria.
