Music entrepreneur Baba Sadiq and actress Ebi Bright, both representing the National Democratic Congress (NDC), have lost their parliamentary bids following a re-collation of votes by the Electoral Commission (EC).
Baba Sadiq, initially declared the winner of the Okaikwei Central constituency with 15,383 votes over incumbent MP Patrick Boamah of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), saw his victory overturned after the re-collation. The revised results showed Patrick Boamah retaining his seat with 21,099 votes, while Baba Sadiq received 19,368 votes.
In the Tema Central constituency, Ebi Bright, who had earlier been announced the winner with a slim margin of 118 votes over Charles Forson of the NPP, also lost her lead. The updated results declared Charles Forson the victor with 18,870 votes, edging out Ebi Bright’s 18,815 votes.
The re-collation, mandated by a court order, affected nine disputed constituencies. Among other notable outcomes:
- Patrick Boakye-Yiadom of the NPP retained the Obuasi East seat with 18,558 votes, narrowly defeating Samuel Aboagye of the NDC.
- In Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh of the NPP secured victory with 29,640 votes over Fummey Philibert of the NDC.
- Nana Agyemang Prempeh of the NPP won in Ahafo Ano North with 20,353 votes, defeating Kwasi Adusei of the NDC.
- Elvis Osei Dapaah of the NPP triumphed in Ahafo Ano South West with 16,058 votes, and Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah of the NPP emerged victorious in Techiman South.
The re-collation process, conducted under tight security, aimed to ensure transparency and compliance with Ghana’s electoral laws.
