BAWUMIA’S CAMP HAD 137 MPS NOW STRUGGLING TO CONVINCE AS THEY HAVE 60 – Ken Agyapong’s Team Fires
Kwasi Kwarteng the former Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Education and now a member of the Kennedy Agyapong team, has fired shots at the Dr Bawumia camp.
Kwasi Kwarteng noted that Bawumia’s group, initially backed by 137 MPs, is now finding it difficult to persuade others as they currently have only 60 MPs.
He additionally claimed that every government appointee and party executive at all levels backed Bawumia in his attempt to secure the NPP presidential nomination for the 2024 elections.
In a social media post on X, Kwasi Kwarteng stated, “Isn’t it interesting that the same camp which once had total support from 137 MPs, all government appointees, and party executives at every level is now struggling to convince us they have over 60 MPs based on a video that shows barely 25 people in the room?
Time changes ampa”, he added.
His remark follows the endorsement of the former vice president and 2024 presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia by more than sixty Members of Parliament from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Reports indicate that several MPs made a courtesy visit to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to express their support.
The MPs disclosed that more than sixty of the NPP’s eighty-eight MPs have supported the former vice president.
Speaking to the media after the close door meeting Dr Bawumia stated, “This morning I had a visit, from our members of parliament, and it was a very happy visit a courtesy call and a call to declare support for me I am so happy for the group that has declared support for me from parliament.
They amount to just over 60 members and you know we have 88 members of parliament, so it is very significant that members of parliament have declared support for me, I just want to use this opportunity to thank all of them”.
Dr Bawumia further added, “I believe this is going to be very important because the members of parliament as you know control the constituencies to a large extent and I am very happy about exactly what they have done today. It is a strong show of support and I thank them and I thank God for this strong show of support. There is a lot of hard work to be done so that we can help the party and help the country”.
