The morning show host of Onua FM/TV, Captain Smart, has expressed remorse to female journalists who were offended by his recent criticism of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in response to the Black Stars’ early departure from the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Blessed Godsbrain Smart, the renowned broadcaster, went on to say that he is apologizing out of “respect” for women in general and female sports commentators in particular.
He thought it was “wise” of him to be straightforward with the GFA about his reprimand. The brash TV/Radio broadcaster chastised the Association for continuing to allow female TV presenters to back the Black Stars.
Speaking on Maakye on Tuesday, December 13, Captain Smart said, “I chose my words right, so I didn’t say ‘TV Female Sports Presenters’. I didn’t say that.”
Captain Smart’s utterance stirred the anger of many journalists, female journalists in particular, with the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) calling for an unqualified apology from him.
