Veteran Ghanaian actor Fred Amugi has warned aspiring performers to be wary of smooth-talkers who try to charm them.
According to Fred Amugi, some producers just use bribes to persuade actors to participate in filming but fail to pay them afterwards.
The seasoned actor revealed that a Nigerian production company has not yet paid him back for a role he did in a series for which he was cast in 2018.
According to Fred Amugi, he hasn’t heard from them in four years and has tried unsuccessfully to contact the producers.
“I went to Nigeria in 2018, just about 4 years ago, and we were in an international kind of film but the Asians who were heading it have, up till now, refused to pay,” he said, shocking Giovani.
When questioned if he felt taken advantage of by the production company for not paying him, Fred Amugi admitted that he is no longer upset by it and has given up trying to get the money.
“They will come sweet talking and you’ll believe them. For the love and passion for what I do, at a point, somebody wanted to pay me a certain sum, but I told them I will do it for free because it was like an insult,” the actor said on the 3FM Drive.
