Founder and leader of the International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim, has opened up about a tumultuous period in his marriage to gospel musician Florence Obinim, revealing that they were on the verge of divorce last year.
In a candid address to his congregation, shared via social media, Bishop Obinim recounted how a significant marital crisis in October 2024 threatened to end their union. He explained that the issue, which he attributed to his wife, prompted him to undertake a 31-day fasting period to seek divine intervention.
“The last time in October, I brought my marital issue to church, which led us to embark on 31 days of fasting. I told you how I was having an issue in my marriage. I remember telling you that if I was not able to solve the issue, it would result in a divorce,” he said.
Bishop Obinim emphasized his transparency about the situation, stating, “I said this on live television, and I am not shy about saying this. The only thing I would be shy about is coming to tell you people that I am divorcing my wife. I also remember telling Florence Obinim that she was the problem and therefore she should give me the chance to solve it.”
The controversial pastor also addressed rumors of an extramarital affair with Ghanaian actress Benedicta Gafah, vehemently denying the allegations. “I cannot be counted among those pastors who marry more than one wife after facing divorce. Can such a pastor solve the marital issues of his church members?” he questioned.
Florence Obinim had previously dismissed the rumors about her husband and Benedicta Gafah, asserting that no one could come between them. Her statement came amid widespread speculation about the nature of the relationship between the bishop and the actress.
