“IT WAS AN ACCIDENT. MY SON DID NOT CARRY A GUN TO GO AND KILL SOMEBODY” – Bishop Salifu Amoako Clarifies Son’s Role In Tragic Accident

Bishop Salifu Amoako, the General Overseer of Alive Chapel International Ministries, has spoken out regarding the tragic accident involving his 16-year-old son, Elrad Salifu Amoako, which claimed the lives of two young girls. The incident, which has drawn widespread public attention, occurred on October 20, 2024, and has since generated significant discussion across Ghanaian media and social platforms.

Addressing the issue during a Sunday church service, Bishop Amoako expressed frustration over the narrative that has surrounded the accident, clarifying that his son did not set out to harm anyone. “It was an accident. My son did not carry a gun to go and kill somebody. My son involved himself in a terrible accident. I was not the one who did it, neither his mother,” the clergyman stated in a video that has since gone viral.

The pastor, who is no stranger to the public eye, attributed the attention the incident has received to his prominent status in Ghana. “It is because of my name; that is why the thing is going everywhere. If this car had hit an Okada, who is going to mention it? It is just because of my name. So let’s see what the Lord will do,” he remarked.

The tragic accident occurred when Elrad reportedly lost control of a Jaguar SUV (GN 7801-20), which then collided with a 4×4 Acura vehicle (GR 2542-23). Both vehicles caught fire upon impact, and the two young girls in the Acura, identified as Justine Agbenu and Maame Dwomoh, tragically lost their lives in the blaze. Their bodies were burned beyond recognition.

While the case is still under legal proceedings, Bishop Amoako cautioned his church members against engaging in unnecessary discussions and speculations. He expressed concern over the tendency for people to speak without knowing the full truth of matters. “People don’t know the truth, so Ghanaians talk. The only thing they have is talking. Did you hear what I said? Ghana here, they don’t have anything, the only thing they have is talking. Talk is cheap, don’t go and say things to add more pain to my life. Stay calm, stay quiet, the case is still in court.”

This somber statement serves as both a plea for understanding and a reminder that the matter is still unfolding legally. Bishop Amoako’s call for calm reflects his hope that public discussions do not exacerbate the already tragic situation his family is facing.
