BLACK SHERIF HAS NICE VOCALS BUT HIS MUSIC IS TOO NOISY, THE SHOUTING IS EXTREME – Michael Adangba

Ghanaian musician Michael Adangba, who is well-known for popular songs like Mampam and Mapeneso, has sparked controversy in the entertainment sector by expressing his frank opinions about Black Sherif’s music.

Speaking on Roselyn Felli’s Joy Prime show Changes, Adangba freely recognised Black Sherif’s vocal prowess but confessed that he did not personally connect with the general sound and delivery of his songs

“Black Sherif has nice vocals, but I cannot listen to his songs because it is noisy from the beginning,” Adangba stated. “The shouting is extreme for me.”

The Mampam hitmaker continued by saying that his understanding of music is closely related to how it affects listeners’ emotions.

He believes that rather of being intense, music should be a source of serenity and emotional equilibrium.

“The purpose of music is to calm a person down. His song is not the kind of music I want. Anything music that disrupts our calmness is noisy,” he added.

Since then, Adangba’s remarks have elicited conflicting responses from music lovers. While some concur that taste in music is personal, others jumped to defend Black Sherif’s intense and passionate approach, which has won him praise both domestically and abroad.

In contrast to Adangba’s penchant for calming melodies, Black Sherif, who is renowned for his unvarnished storytelling and passionate delivery, has amassed a sizable fan base with music that represents personal problems and street realities.

The conversation emphasises how diverse artistic methods can elicit distinct emotional reactions from listeners and demonstrates the range of musical tastes within Ghana’s music industry.

As the debate continues online, many industry observers note that differing opinions among artistes reflect the evolving and multifaceted nature of Ghanaian music.

As the online argument rages on, many industry experts comment that artists’ divergent viewpoints represent Ghanaian music’s dynamic and diverse character.
