BLACK SHERIF REVEALS HE SUBMITTED ‘IRON BOY’ FOR TWO GRAMMY CATEGORIES

Despite the high-profile snub, the Ghanaian superstar remains "unshaken," pointing to the record-breaking success of his debut album and expressing confidence about winning Artiste of the Year at the 2026 Ghana Music Awards.

Ghanaian music sensation Black Sherif has disclosed that he actively submitted his work for consideration at the 66th Grammy Awards but did not secure a nomination.

Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz, the “Sacrifice” hitmaker confirmed he filed his debut album, Iron Boy, for two categories: Best Global Album and Best African Music Performance.

Despite the disappointment that many fans felt, Black Sherif maintained a philosophical outlook. “I would be very happy if they nominated me but e no even shift me as dem no nominated. I am not shaken, I am not touched,” he told hosts Kwame Dadzie and Doreen Avio.

His focus, instead, is on domestic recognition. When asked about the upcoming Telecel Ghana Music Awards, he expressed strong confidence about winning the ultimate prize. “We deserve it. What do you think?” he stated.

This self-assurance is backed by the monumental success of Iron Boy. Released in April 2025, the album has shattered multiple records, becoming the most-streamed Ghanaian album of the year. It achieved the highest first-day streams for a Ghanaian album on Spotify with 2 million streams and has amassed over 103.3 million streams on the platform.

The album’s lead single, “Sacrifice,” dominated the Apple Music Ghana Top 100 chart for an impressive 23 consecutive weeks. Furthermore, Black Sherif recently crossed 1 billion career streams on Audiomack, solidifying his status as the most-streamed Ghanaian artist on the platform.

While a Grammy nomination remains a future goal, Black Sherif’s revelation and the undeniable data prove that his influence and artistic impact continue to resonate powerfully both at home and on the global stage.
