The Black Stars of Ghana will officially open camp in Accra today ahead of two crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Chad and Mali this week.
The senior national team will hold its first training session today, September 1, which will be open to both media and fans. However, Tuesday’s session will be conducted behind closed doors before the team departs for N’djamena Tuesday evening.
Head coach Otto Addo has named a 24-man squad for the important fixtures, featuring Union Berlin left-back Derrick Köhn who receives his first senior national team call-up. Several key players including Jordan Ayew, Antoine Semenyo, and Elisha Owusu have already arrived in the capital ahead of the training camp.
Ghana will face Chad at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno on Thursday, September 4, before returning to host Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, September 8, 2025.
The Black Stars currently sit atop Group I with 15 points from six matches, maintaining a three-point advantage over Comoros and a five-point lead against Madagascar as they pursue their fifth FIFA World Cup appearance.
These matches represent critical opportunities for Ghana to solidify their position at the top of their qualifying group and move closer to securing a spot in the 2026 tournament.
